VIDEO - A Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On

2008 has been a VERY volatile year for US markets. The past couple weeks have been especially crazy given the situation with Fannie Mae (NYSE: FNM) and Freddie Mac (NYSE: FRE).

I always keep a close eye on the Volatility Index, aka VIX. The VIX gives a good indication of investor confidence. A low VIX indicates a confident investor, with low levels of fear associated with the market. A high VIX indicates an investor that is uncertain and fearful.

CLICK HERE to view a video analysis of the VIX. If you have any questions, do no hesitate to leave them in the comment section of this blog. I will answer them as quickly as possible.

Side Note: The VIX measures S&P 500 volatility. There is another index called the VXN which measure volatility levels in the NASDAQ.

Happy Trading,
